classicstarcafeI, Deborah Kerr, was born in Helensburgh, Scotland in 1921, on the thirtieth of September. I attended school at Northumberland School in Bristol. My aunt, who was a star on the radio, got me an acting job on the stage. As I was a shy child, acting became an outlet for me.
Gabriel Pascal, a director, saw me on stage and gave me work in the British cinema. I, not meaning to be snobbish, became a star.
In 1947, I came to America, and MGM studios. There, I made quite a few films, the best known being 'The King and I', in which I portrayed Anna Leonowens, a schoolteacher who comes to Siam.
